This two-part study report offers a longitudinal analysis of the performance of Riverside Community College (RCC) students who transferred to the University of California (UC) from 1963 to 1981; and provides an in-depth look at the academic achievement of 1984 UC transfers while at RCC. Section A includes information on: (1) first-time fall transfers, 1963-85; (2) transfer rates for RCC compared to all California community college entrants, 1978-85; (3) the UC admission status of RCC transfers; (4) special action admits, 1978-84; (5) grade point average (GPA) differences at RCC and UC; (6) GPA differentials for high school eligibles, 1971-80; (7) GPA differentials for high school ineligibles, 1971-80; (8) GPA's for high school elibiles, ineligibles, and special actions, 1978-81; (9) UC majors, 1979-84; and (10) first-year performance, 1982-84. Section B looks at fall 1984 entrants to UC in terms of degrees and certificates earned, terms at RCC, units completed at RCC, remedial work taken at RCC, entering assessment test scores at RCC, ethnicity, and probations/dismissals. Drawing from the data in section B, a number of inferences are presented to assist RCC in facilitating transfer. (EJV)
