Our opening hours will be changing between Tuesday 24 December 2019 and Wednesday 1 January 2020.

All reading rooms will be closed from Christmas Day, reopening on 2 January. But you’ll still be able to visit our Exhibition Galleries, our children’s holiday space, WordPlay, and Bookshop from 9am-5pm (except on Christmas Day).Bookplate café will also be open during this period, but with varied hours.

Summary

Mr Miller talks of his early life in Ceduna; his relationship with his parents; his early memories of school; his working with his father as a refuse collector; accommodation in Ceduna; contract work on obtaining gypsum from Waratahs; Duck Pond settlement; share farming; changes that had occurred in Ceduna from early 1960s to 1970; changes brought about by the repeal of the Aborigines Protection Board Act; problems caused by the repeal of the Act; problems between the Ceduna people and the Yalata people; the recommendations of the Aboriginal Forum.
