- Summary:
-
This intent of this publication is to provide a comprehensive list of resources for librarians to use in planning special programs geared for adults in the public library. Resources, as the term is used here, are ready-made program sources including speakers, films, and multimedia presentations. It is noted that the guide is designed to serve as a "jumping off" point for program planning--it is not a list of creative program ideas. Topics covered in separate chapters are: (1) why (or why not) do adult programming; (2) how to get program ideas; and (3) how to select programming--what will work in your community. Also provided are a checklist for organizing a successful program; an adult programming resource list; a subject index to the adult programming resource list; and a 23-item selected bibliography on library programming and public relations. Forms for suggesting additions to the resource list and for ordering this publication are included. (BBM)
