This updated report provides illustrative examples of more than 100 projects and activities of California State University (CSU) which address CSU involvement with California public schools. Focus is on activities in four areas: (1) meeting the needs of diverse student populations; (2) strengthening K-12 curriculum and instruction; (3) recruiting, retaining, and diversifying the pool of new teachers; and (4) enhancing the preparation of teachers and other educators. The first section briefly looks at dimensions of CSU involvement in school improvement including goals for improvement; scope, density, and duration; institutional participants and organizational arrangements; and amount and source of funding. Next each of the four areas of CSU involvement are briefly described. The major portion of the document consists of brief descriptions of programs in each of the four areas. (DB)
