The "ERIC Review" is published three times per year and announces research results, publications, and new programs relevant to each issue's theme topic. This issue introduces readers to the issues surrounding the inclusion of students with disabilities in general education classrooms, and provides information for schools moving to adopt more inclusive practices. This document is not an endorsement of or policy statement on inclusion. Nine articles appear in this issue: (1) "Including Students with Disabilities in General Education Classrooms: From Policy to Practice" (Jane Burnette); (2) "Inclusion and the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act" (Judith E. Heumann and Thomas Hehir); (3) "Office of Special Education Programs" which lists 18 programs sponsored by that office; (4) "Inclusion: It's Not All Academic" (Barak Stussman); (5) "Inclusive Education in Practice" (Karen Irmsher); (6) "Selected Inclusion Resource Organizations" (Bernadette Knoblauch); (7) "Selected Inclusion Materials" (Barbara Sorenson and Janet Drill); (8) "Excerpts from Policies and Position Statements on Inclusive Schools" which includes statements from American Federation of Teachers, The Council for Exceptional Children, Learning Disabilities Association of America, National Association of Elementary School Principals, National Association of School Psychologists, National Association of Secondary School Principals, National Association of State Boards of Education, National Education Association, and National School Boards Association; and (9) "Putting It All Together: An Action Plan" which lists tips for creating more inclusive schools.
