This annual report documents the activities of the British Columbia (BC) Council on Admissions and Transfer. Highlights include: (1) the BC Transfer Guide lists equivalencies for first- and second-year courses taken at 23 "sending" institutions, transferring to 12 "receiving" institutions--as of March 2001, a total of 7,235 such courses were listed; (2) a total of 45,392 transfer agreements were recorded; (3) a total of 1,846 changes were made to 2000-2001 sending institution courses in the 5-month period of November 2000 through March 2001; (4) according to a survey of BC students, 71% transferred from a college or junior institute to a four-year institution for further studies, 86% were at least satisfied with their transfer experience, and 12% reported not receiving all the transfer credit they expected; (5) BC college transfer students entering the three largest BC universities receive credit for 85% of the credits they earn at college; (6) analyses of student transcripts revealed that the most significant reason for courses not transferring is that they have not been articulated--that is, the college offering the course has not negotiated transfer credit; and (7) three projects were launched to enhance transferability in specific discipline or program areas. This report also includes a chart of major activities, a list of council members and meetings, listings of projects completed and in process, and an appendix. (EMH)
