MS Acc11.025 comprises diaries kept by Donald Franklin Styles whilst he was assistant director of the Australian Antarctic Division. Ten of the diaries document nineteen Antarctic voyages undertaken by Styles between 1957-1974. On all but the first and last of these expeditions to Australian Antarctic bases, Styles' role was as leader. The diaries record details of daily events, weather and marine conditions, conditions at the bases, building projects, problems with equipment, emergencies and personnel issues. Another diary from 1977 relates Styles' international holiday travel. A final item comprises notes made by Styles in 1988 in preparation for an interview conducted by Tim Bowden for the ABC radio documentary series, "Australians in Antarctica" (1 fol. box).

Law retired as Antarctic Division director, Styles became acting director. He represented Australia at the international meetings of the Antarctic Treaty and the Scientific Committee on Antarctic Research (SCAR).
