The tapestry "design incorporates images of Kenneth Myer in varying stages of his life surrounded by a selection of images and text which describe a wide range of his interests and his extraordinary commitment to several public institutions, such as the Howard Florey Laboriatories of Experimental Physiology and Medicine, the School of Oriental Studies at the University of Melbourne, the Victorian Arts Centre, the National Library of Australia and the Australian Broadcasting Corporation. All images are transposed onto a background which has been taken from a Japanese landscape painting which Kenneth Myer donated to the Art Gallery of New South Wales. This background image as well as 2 smaller images of a Japanese figure and Chinese flower painting acknowledge Mr Myer's connection with Asia and love of Asian art."--Information from acquisitions documentation.

- "In order to produce this design John Young visited the National Library of Australia to view the intended hanging space. He sourced images of Kenneth Myer from the family's archives, spoke with family members and listened to the taped recordings made by Mr Myer; all of which assisted the artist in selecting the most important imagery for the tapestry." --Information from acquisitions documentation.

- "This tapestry was commissioned by the Tapestry Foundation of Australia and funded by donations from the Myer family, to commemorate the life and achievements of Kenneth Baillieu Myer AC, DSC (1921-1992). The tapestry was gifted to the National Library of Australia where Mr Myer served on the Interim Council by appointment of the Prime Minister, Robert Menzies in 1960, then as a founding member of the NLA Statutary Council from 1961 and as Chairman of the NLA Council from 1974-1982." --Information from acquisitions documentation.
