Elizabeth Arthur speaks about being into Burnside Presbyterian Home in Parramatta with her sister; life in the orphanage with her sister; visits from her mother; daily routine in the orphanage; the orphanage staff; Christmas not being celebrated; leaving school and taking on cooking duties; relationships with other girls and her sister; birthdays not being acknowledged; leaving the orphanage and working as a nanny; being unprepared for life; getting married; being pregnant and having children; working with her husband at a chicken farm; being a parent; health problems for her and her husband.

Arthur talks about moving to a sheep station near Brewarrina; coping with isolation; moving to Tarcoon where her husband worked for the railroad; family life in tough conditions; moving to Campbelltown to improve their children’s access to education; living in tents near the railway line; getting their own house; her and her husband’s work; getting her birth certificate; searching for her other siblings; involvement with the television program ‘Can we help?’; meeting her siblings; her feelings about her mother; the Burnside reunion; CLAN; her husband’s search for his history; the Apology to the Forgotten Australians; how her childhood has impacted on her life.
