Neil McDougall talks about his family background; memories of his uncle Don; the family farm, kangaroo hunting, horses, animals, dingoes, corn harvesting; schooling; WWII, American soldiers; working with his father on the farm, draft horses, tractors, trucks; brother contracting poliomyelitis, iron lung; religion; maintaining the equipment on farm from young age; leaving school at 15, working, cutting timber, picking corn; flight training, gaining commercial pilot license aged 22; Australian National Airlines (ANA); becoming a flying instructor in Townsville; taking on a job with Royal Flying Doctor Service, Alice Springs for 3 years, duties; marriage and children; becoming a DC 9 first officer, working in New Guinea with TAA; conditions for wives in PNG; his later involvement in the Moreton Island ferry business, dealing with staff, work conditions; Pilots dispute (1989); a planned trip to Burma; health issues; retirement village; Bill Swampy Marsh; Georgina Downs Station; identifying with father's generation, respect for elders, hard working and principled generation; changes in Whitlam era; being a self funded retiree; the stolen generation; politicians; his involvement with service clubs, Lions, Rotary; family holidays, fishing.
