Summary

Ninety-one black and white Polaroid portrait photographs of Afghans taken in Kabul on March 13, 2006 are arranged in an album. The photographs were taken with Polaroid Type 665 film, which yields both an instant print and a negative for later enlargement. Five double page spreads of candid colour photograph collages taken while the photographer was taking the portraits and the prints are being coated to be given away to the subjects are reproduced on the end papers and dispersed in the main part of the book. Portraits of Stephen Dupont, Jacques Menashe and a reprint of an old postcard portrait of Abdur Rahman Khan, the Emir of Afghanistan from 1880 to 1901, appear after the main sequence of portraits.
