Undated typescript and a transcript copy of a letter from Brownbill to an unknown recipient in which he describes his reasons for immigrating to Australia in 1849, his difficulties in finding employment in the Victoria, his storekeeping businesses on the gold fields, being held up by bushrangers and his arrest for selling liquor. The typescript is annotated by Brownbill's grand-daughter, Ruby Brownbill.
