Gayle Kennedy was born in Ivanhoe, N.S.W. and is a member of the Wongaibon Clan of the Ngiayampaa speaking nation of South West N.S.W. She is an author and writer and has published stories in newspapers, magazines and broadcasts on radio and was also the Indigenous issues writer and researcher for Streetwize comics from 1995-1998. She contracted Polio as a young child and has spoken in Australia and internationally on the issue of disability and culture. In 2006 she won the David Unaipon literary award.
