Notes

Title devised by cataloguer from accompanying information.

Part of the Australian Information Service collection.

Inscriptions: "In Australia the geckos are vocal at evensong. At lunchtime, Kenneth Mason may often be seen tackling the counter-lunch with a large beer at the side of his plate un the Victoria Hotel in Darwin, in the Northern Territory of Australia. One would not think him an Anglican Bishop; but he is. His diocese is one of the world's biggest. It consists of the entire Northern Territory - 804,700 square kilometres (half a million square miles) - which is one sixth of Australia. His cathedral, Christ Church, in Smith Street, Darwin, would be among the world's smallest. Insects often invade it during evening services, along with frogs, and a tropical lizard called the gecko which punctuates the sermons with its characteristic cry: "tut, tut, tut". A gecko.
