Four letters written from Clare-Village, South Australia between June 1849 and January 1851 by the Austrian Jesuit priest Alois Kranewitter to his superiors in Austria. Kranewitter came to Australia at the request of Prussian and Silesian Catholics. The letters include descriptions of the voyage to Australia, the setting up of villages and churches, rivalry with Protestants, remarks on Aborigines and the prospect of establishing missions among them.
