The archive documents the ninetenth century emigration of the English (Bonham Carter) and Irish (Ireland) families to New Zealand and then to Melbourne. These intermarried families were significant in Australian history, politics, the legal world and literature. The images in the collection include portraits of the families and prominent ninetenth century Melbourne citizens, a photographic album of Fiji, and a postcard collection.

There are also over 100 international postcards.
