Summary

MS Acc13.004 comprises loose material, predominantly correspondence between Gwen Hardisty, Helen Mackenzie, Joy Frayne, Alan Marshall and a number of children at Chilwell Primary School, Geelong, Victoria. Some newspaper clippings and a booklet of children's poems "In Wonder Watching" with foreword by Alan Marshall are also included. The letters chart the health difficulties being experienced by Marshall at the time. Some of the correspondence is addressed specifically to the children by Marshall (1 packet).

Biography/History

Chilwell Primary School is a school with which Alan Marshall formed an especially close relationship. He corresponded with particular teachers, including Helen Mackenzie and teacher librarian, Joy Frayne, and frequently visited and gave talks during the 1970s and 1980s. The staff retained the correspondence and material relating to Alan Marshall's role at the school.
