-
Nineteen-year-old Loveday Smith had taken to the “Little Liza” the first time she saw the little boat with the strange curved prow, and so had Tam Greenrush, one of the Islanders who lived on the low sanely shores of O'Brian's Point. Loveday and Tam became partners, pooling their resources, Loveday's money and Tam's building skill, to refit Liz a as a trawler, so that she could join the prawning fleet that sailed each night out of the river-estuary to the eastern sea. But their venture met with opposition - from Tam's mother Della, from destructive 'surfies', and from people in general who viewed the friendship of white girl and Island boy with superstition and prejudice. 'This is a most entertaining and thoughtfully written account of one of the most pressing of contemporary problems.' -- Dust jacket.
