- Summary:
-
This report examines trends in the provision of emergency relief in Australia from 2007 to 2010. Emergency relief in Australia is usually distributed by nongovernment welfare agencies, and generally takes the form of material and financial assistance to individuals experiencing financial crisis. Using data from Anglicare (Diocese of Sydney), the Salvation Army Southern Territory (Northern Territory, South Australia, Tasmania, Victoria and Western Australia), and St Vincent de Paul (Victoria), the report examines the characteristics of emergency relief clients, their reasons for seeking assistance, the amounts and types of assistance provided, and any changes in these factors between 2007 and 2010.
