Album contains photographs and postcards of the Federal City Camp, which was used by the members of the Board appointed to report on sites for the federal capital along with the surveyors assisting them, and sites nearby. The camp was also known as Surveyor's Camp and Federal Members Camp. It was opened in March 1909 on Kurrajong Hill which was later renamed Capitol and Capital Hill. It's purpose was to conduct preliminary surveying work of an area to define the city area of the proposed national capital. This camp lasted for three weeks. In 1910 the surveyors returned and set up a base camp to undertake further surveying duties.
