Summary

"In 2013 Canberra is celebrating its centenary year. To mark this milestone, this article uses Census data from 1911 through to 2011 to highlight how Canberra has developed over the last 100 years. Canberra is a relatively young city, but it has a rich history; from passionate and protracted debate about where it should be located and what its name should be, to the transformation of a sheep station into the diverse city-state that Canberra is today."
