Honourable Lionel Frost Bowen, speaks of his childhood and education in Sydney; experiences in local and state government representing Randwick; his entry into Federal politics; his work as Postmaster-General; the dismissal of the Whitlam Government; the Labor Party in Opposition; Gough Whitlam, Bill Hayden and Bob Hawke and Bowen's part in leadership challenges; his comments on events in Clyde Cameron's diaries and issues while Minister for Trade and Attorney-General.

Biography/History

Bowen held the seat of Kingsford-Smith, N.S.W. for the Australian Labor Party from October 1969 to 1990. He was Deputy Prime Minister, 1983-1990, Attorney-General, 1984-1990 and Post-Master General, 1972-1974 as well as holding portfolios for Commonwealth-State Relations, Trade, Manufacturing and Industry, Special Minister of State and Minister Assisting the Prime Minister.
