-
An artist's book. The artwork and text (the poem 'The Only Hope After God' by Mohsen Soltany Zand, which begins 'If one person dies'; the artist's dialogue with her oldest grandson Jake; as well as the refugees' own words, in white type against a black background), present the artist's response to the inhumane treatment of refugees who flee war torn and oppressive regimes in smugglers' boats seeking asylum in Australia. She attempts to give a picture of their suffering, and acknowledges the work of those who work to support them, without reaching any form of resolution. "The boats have not stopped... The harsh conditions cannot act as a deterrent as they continue to risk their lives at sea rather than face certain death by returning to their homes."--Anne Twigg.
