Following reports of the massacre of natives in revenge for the murder of Captain Craig the Victorian Premier, D. Gillies writes to the Queensland Premier, S.W. Griffith, asking for an official report on these rumours. The paper prints their letters, the official report from the Hon. John Douglas, Special Commissioner for British New Guinea with four additional enclosures by Douglas and Henry O. Forbes (Resident Agent at Samarai). The Douglas and Forbes reports are the most substantial portion of the paper.
