Summary

1) Letterbooks 1862-82, containing letters from women emigrants to Australia, New Zealand and South Africa, and letters from Harriet Herbert. 2) Cuttings 1880-95, from English and Canadian journals and newspapers, re women's emigration. 3) Minutes of the Finance Committee of the United Englishwomen's Emigration Association, 1885-1886. 4) Correspondence, 1949 with G.F. Plant re the history of the Female Middle Class Emigration Society and the Colonial Intelligence League. 5) Minutes of the Council and some sub-committees of the United British Women's Emigration Association, 1896-1901. 6) Addresses: Maria S. Rye, Emigration of Educated Women (1861) and Jane E. Lewin, Female Middle Class Emigration (1863). 7) Annual report of the Female Middle Class Emigration Society, 1861-72, 1874-79 and 1883-85.
