"August Friedrich Ferdinand von Kotzebue (1761-1819) was a German dramatist and a highly controversial figure, ultimately murdered by German nationalists. In 1795, after a few years spent in Paris and Mainz, he went into semi-retirement in Reval where he began a period of prolific output and cemented his reputation as one of the foremost playwrights of Europe."--Catalogue from Damian O'Reilly, August 2014.

- Cover title.
- Published in Grätz, then part of Prussia, and now known by its Polish name of Grodzisk Wielkopolski, which is located in western Poland midway between Berlin and Lodz.
- An unusual edition of a famous play about the "survival" of the La Perouse exploring expedition in the Pacific. By 1798 La Perouse's ships (last sighted at Botany Bay, where they arrived only days after the First Fleet) had already been missing for a decade. This edition might even be a piracy, because there were 1798 editions published in the two major printing centres of Vienna and Leipzig the same year.--Based on a catalogue from Damian O'Reilly, August 2014.
