- Inscriptions: "The windiest place on the face of the globe. Hut erected as Winter Quarters for the Australasian Antarctic Expedition 1911-14 under the leadership of Sir Douglas Mawson, on the foreshore of King George V Land. The anemometer which recorded the greatets consistent wind velocities on the face of the globe stands on the edge at left. For two years the wind had an hourly average of 49.9 miles per hour. The expedition will revisit the site"--In pen on reverse.
