- "Andrew Barr officially launched the 49th National Folk Festival at the National Library of Australia on Wednesday 18 Feb. In her welcome Festival Director Pam Merrigan announced three new International Acts for the program along with a special Festival Commemoration of ANZAC. She also highlighted the importance of the Festival’s grassroots and community events that allow festival-goers the opportunity to connect in a more personal way with the folk arts. NFF Board president Gabrielle Mackey named Hon. Ted Egan AO as the recipient of the Festival’s Life Time Achievement Award. Award-winning WA duo Gina Williams and Guy Ghouse, and Festival favouite Fred Smith provided the evening’s entertainment." -- National Folk Festival web site. Anne-Marie Schwirtlich, Director General of the National Library of Australia, also spoke at the launch.
