- Biography/History:
-
The Australian Theatre Ballet, directed by Walter Gore, toured country Victoria in 1955. Gore was a ballet dancer and choreographer, his wife Paula Hinton nearing her prime as a ballerina. She later went on to dance in Europe, as did some of the other young performers, many of whom were just out of school. The tour started in Bendigo on 11th April, finishing in Albury, forty performances later, on the 18th of May. The tour was followed by seasons in Adelaide and Melbourne. Due to lack of finance, the company was wound up late in 1955.
