-
A newspaper banner headline broadside, printed in red and black which relates that the ABC Chairman, Sir Henry Bland, viewed the first episode of the ABC TV series, Alvin Purple, a sex comedy, and said it “would shock some viewers”. He said he issued no instructions about specific cuts but had given an indication of some scenes the producers should look at. The 13-part series was screened in 1976, with each episode lasting 30 minutes. It followed two feature films, Alvin Purple (1973) and Alvin Purple Rides Again (1974), all with Graeme Blundell playing the title role.
