- Biography/History:

Thomas Reibey, a grandson of Mary Reibey was born in Tasmania and educated in England. He was admitted to Anglican Orders in 1843 by Francis Nixon, Bishop of Tasmania. In 1870 after a disagreement with Bishop C. H. Bromley he retired from active life in the Church. Reibey entered the Tasmanian House of Assembley in 1874 and returned in 1903. He became Premier in 1876 for a little over a year. See Australian encyclopedia 1958, V.7:401.
