Biography/History

The Freedom from Hunger Campaign was initiated by the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization in 1960 as a five-year project to promote to raise at the national and community level global awareness of the issues of poverty around the world as well as provide communities in developing countries with support from anti-poverty programs in the more developed countries. The aim is to eliminate hunger and malnutrition from all countries with better food production methods and international cooperation in providing food relief wherever it is needed.
