MS 10244 comprises approximately 300 numbered musical scores, mainly handwritten adaptations and arrangements, with some photocopies. Some of Butcher's original compositions are represented, including the full arrangement of his opera for children 'The Children's Crusade'. Some of the arrangements were written for TV, radio, symphonic concerts and the Sydney Dance Drama Company.

Composer, musical director. Born 1925, Innisfail, Queensland. Studied piano at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. After serving in World War II, he wrote music for theatres and dance companies in Sydney, then moved to the U.K. for a decade before returning to Australia and working for the A.B.C. Died in 2013.
