Summary

Herman Pech, a non-Indigenous Lutheran pastor, speaks about his family background and education. After teaching in Adelaide for a short time, he and his wife went to the Haast's Bluff Outstation on the Finke River Lutheran Mission, N.T. in 1947. He speaks about the living conditions at Haast's Bluff, the relationship between the Mission and the Northern Territory Native Affairs Branch, Pastor Albrecht, and efforts to establish education programs in Aboriginal languages. The Pech family left Haast's Bluff in 1955 and moved to Melbourne.
