Summary

Statement endorsed by the Labor Council of N.S.W.; calls for the protection of full-blood Aborigines and their culture; creation of secular tribal reserves; inalienable land rights of tribal lands and for right of Aborigines to control social change and economic development; reviews disastrous effects of white settlement on Aboriginal society; criticizes changes in government policy as uninformed, exploitation, and ultimately aimed at detribalization and extermination; regarding government cooperation with missions, is argued that missionization has contributed to the exploitation and demoralization of Aborigines and to the deterioration of their health; comments extensively on Donald Thomsons recommendations to the Commonwealth Government, which were largely ignored.
