This collection comprises papers relating to nine of Kate Grenville's novels (The Secret River, The Lieutenant, Sarah Thornhill, Dark Places, A Room Made of Leaves, The Idea of Perfection, Always Greener, One Life, The Case Against Fragrance) and a piece in Meanjin about the Covid-19 pandemic. The collection primarily consists of early drafts, and correspondence with colleagues and readers.

Dr Catherine 'Kate' Elizabeth Grenville AO, FAHA (1950 - ) is an award-winning Australian author. She has published fifteen books, including fiction, non-fiction, biography, and books about the writing process. Her novels have been published worldwide and have been translated into many languages. Three have been adapted into feature films. Her works of historical fiction examine class, race, and gender in colonial and contemporary Australia. In 2001, she won the Orange Prize for The Idea of Perfection, and in 2006 she won the Commonwealth Writers' Prize for The Secret River, which was also shortlisted for the Man Booker Prize. In 2018 she was made an Officer of the Order of Australia for distinguished service to the literary arts as an author, to the tertiary education sector, to professional societies, and as an advocate for the publishing industry. https://kategrenville.com.au/
