Description [Canberra] : [Ampersand Duck], 2016
1 broadside : colour ; 54 x 35 cm
Summary

A protest broadside which takes the form of a newspaper banner headline poster (possibly also known as a ‘splash banner’ or ‘headline screamer’) to comment on the current issue of politicians using the term “illegals” to refer to asylum seekers or people who flee their own country and apply for protection as refugees, often making their perilous way to Australia in small and often unsafe boats. The poster is letterpress printed with wood type in three variants: in either red or black ink, or a combination of the two with the headline in black. Beween the mock newspaper title is a circular image of a man wearing a peaked cap who is holding a box with the motto 'we deliver" and "free!' in an arrow above it. At the foot of the headline additional text appears in small type below a horizontal rule: "words matter," the Ampersand Duck logo, and the date.
