Fourter recalls his German grandfather who sacked his own son from the family business, how his father as a result moved to Shadrack Creek and made milk deliveries, how he himself left school at age 13, how he later got a job on a fishing trawler, describes his first boat involved in barracouta fishing and how he later went on to trawlers around Lake Entrance and later to Tasmania crayfishing, working conditions had good money but long hours, when he returned to Eden in 1950/51 he bought the Marauder which he kept for 36 years to go tuna, pole, salmon and mullet fishing, later bought the Osprey for tuna fishing but govt. regulations on tuna ruined him, later was the first to fish for newly discovered the orange roughy, how he would go as far as Port Lincoln to catch orange roughies, methods of barracouta fishing, the old fish cannery at Eden, how he in 1950 was one of the first to go tuna fishing as taught by John Hill from Suva, much of the tuna is sold to lucrative Japanese market.
