A comprehensive and detailed map of China based on D'Anville's 1735 map, with extensive charts divided into provinces and giving the longtitude and latitude of all the main towns and cities. From Edward Cave's translation of Du Halde's 'A description of the Empire of China', with the information derived from that collected by Jesuit Missionaries. Relief shown by shading, and pictorially.

"To the Honourable Edward Vernon Esq., Vice Admiral of the Blue, this map is humbly inscribed, out of public gratitude, by the editor."

"This great work was begun the 4th of July 1708 and finished the 1st of January 1717".

Includes text, "A table of the principal latitudes observed & longitudes determined geometrically where on this map is grounded", and glossary.
