- Summary:
-
The Perkal brothers attracted many famous customers to their shop in Sydney's Haymarket. Their best customer was the media tycoon Kerry Packer, who ordered polo boots every month for over thirty years. Despite their celebrity clients, their greatest satisfaction was making surgical shoes for disabled people, helping them walk again. In 1995, they moved to Surry Hills and continued the craft of bespoke shoemaking, despite the gradual winding down of the leather industry and the lack of apprentices willing to stay in the trade. Sadly, both Adam and Morris passed away within two weeks of each other in December 2013.
