- "The three movements of this composition are based on the three pieces by the Chilean folk-musician Victor Jara, who died in the coup in Chile in September 1973. The first was an instrumental number for Chilean folk instruments; the second and third were songs. The movements share the titles of the Victor Jara originals"--Preliminary matter.
- "'On shooting stars' was commissioned by the Seymour Group of Sydney University (artistic director Stuart Challender) with financial assistance from the Music Board of the Australia Council. The first performance of the work in its original version was given by the Group's ensemble on Sunday 10th October 1981, in the Recording Hall of the Sydney Opera House in a concert recorded by tthe Australian Broadcasting Commission. The first performance of the revised version was given by a student ensemble under the direction of the composer in Sprague Hall at Yale University, New Haven, Connecticut, U.S.A. on Monday 22nd February 1982..."--Preliminary matter.
