George "Scotty" Allan was an air pilot and engineer, who later became Deputy General Manager of Qantas. Born in Scotland in 1900, Allan commenced pilot training with the Royal Air Force in 1917, serving on the Western Front. He continued his flying career in Australia, working for Australian National Airways, 1929-1931 and Qantas, 1934-1961, breaking to serve with the RAAF during the Second World War. Allan flew with Charles Ulm and P.G. Taylor in the record-breaking "Faith in Australia" flight from England to Australia in 1933.

- Maps collected by Scotty Allan mostly for flight navigation. The collection includes aeronautical strip maps of Britain and Europe, topographic maps of Australia, and hydrographic and aeronautical charts of North America and the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans. Also includes a small number of manuscript maps of aerodromes. Maps relating to the "Faith in Australia" flight in 1933 include Allan's hand annotations of the route.
