- Report (Victoria. Marine and Freshwater Resources Institute) ; No.11.
- Summary:
-
The diets of 4478 fish of 39 species collected at four sites in Port Phillip Bay are described. Sites were at depths of 7, 12, 17 and 22 metres near St. Leonards, and each site was sampled over a 24-hour period at quarterly intervals. For the six most abundant species - sand flathead, eastern shovelnose stingaree, sparesly spotted stingaree, globefish, red mullet and spiny gurnard - the effects of depth, season, fish length and time of day on the prey composition of diets were determined.
