Papers assembled while Edwards worked for Paul Keating, plus personal papers and research files relating to Edwards' biography of Keating. The collection includes official material collected or copied by Edwards, such as government reports and cabinet documents, and also diaries and notebooks detailing interviews Edwards did with Keating.
- Biography/History:

Journalist, economist, economic adviser and author. During his career as an economic and political reporter Dr John Edwards worked in Sydney, Canberra and Washington. Between 1991 and 1994 Edwards was Senior Adviser (Economic) to Treasurer and then Prime Minister Paul Keating. As a Keating adviser Edwards' responsibilities included Commonwealth-State relations, the 1992 One Nation statement, wages policy, trade policy development and trade aspects of international relations. He worked in banking roles after leaving the Prime Minister's office in 1994. Edwards holds a Ph.D. in economics from George Washington University and is the author of several books, including, Life wasn't meant to be easy: a political profile of Malcolm Fraser (1977), Keating: the inside story (1996), and, Curtin's gift: reinterpreting Australia's greatest Prime Minister (2005).
