- Summary:
-
This book tells the story of arguably, the last of the "great Australian Bushrangers" - Two brothers, Patrick and James Kenniff, who marauded over a large area of central Queensland in the latter part of the nineteenth century. On Easter Sunday 1902, an experienced police officer and a capable station manager were gunned down in an isolated part of the rugged Carnarvon ranges. An aboriginal tracker escaped to tell the story. The largest police manhunt in Queensland's history followed, culminating in the arrest of the wanted fugitives, a sensational trial and appeal in the high court, and finally a hanging.
