Among the varied organisations or entities represented in the collection are the Australian Film Commission, National Australia Day Council, Centenary of Federation Advisory Committee and the Film and Television Board (18 boxes, 22 cartons, 1 elephant folio).
The Acc01.153 instalment includes papers relating to Adams' work as a radio announcer (332 boxes, 1 fol. box).
The Acc04.125a instalment comprises correspondence, minutes, manuscripts, newspaper cuttings, photographs and cartoons (48 cartons).
The Acc04.228 instalment consists of correspondence, film scripts, speeches and addresses (44 cartons).
The Acc10.036 instalment largely comprises correspondence, much of it pertaining to Adams' "Late night live" ("LNL") ABC Radio National programme. Correspondents include listeners to the programme, Tim Bowden, John Button, Gabrielle Lord, Kathy Lette, Jim McLelland, Bruce Beresford, Justice Michael Kirby, Richard Boyer, Graham Kennedy, Australia Council Board members, Neville Wran, Donald Conway, Barry Jones, Gough Whitlam, Eric Butler, Jim Cairns, John Cain, Don Dunstan, Hector Crawford, Barrry Humphries, Brian Burke, Don Chipp, Bob Hawke, Gareth Evans, Andrew Peacock, Cecil Holmes and Dick Smith. In addition there are copies of Adams' outgoing correspondence. Other material includes manuscript and draft copies of filmscripts, film proposals, novels and newspaper columns, family papers, and photographs and drawings (125 boxes, 1 fol. box).

Journalist, broadcaster, advertising executive, filmmaker and author. Phillip Andrew Hedley Adams was made a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) in 1987 and an Officer of the Order of Australia (AO) in 1992 in recognition of service to the Australian film and television industries. Adams is also the recipient of several other honours, including the Walkley Award for broadcast journalism in 2004. Adams is a columnist for The Australian and presents the programme “Late night live" on ABC Radio National and Radio Australia.
