The Melbourne AJS Motor Cycle Club was formed on 25 April 1924. On the night of 4 March 1926 200 members attended the Smoke Night, celebrating its first anniversary. Silver trophy cups were presented to winners of a 100-miles reliability test held in February at Keilor, and there were awards for a cross-country "scramble". The program is headed 'Smoke Night, An All British Affair' with the British lion dressed in a Union Jack and smoking a cigar in front of a pin-up of a racing motor cyclist. The programme on the verso opened with ragtime piano music, and included four songs, two items by a comedian, an address and response on 'Motor Cycling', with the evening concluding with God Save the King. -Based on Advance Australiana: Spirit of Place: A Catalogue from Ancanthe, June 2018, item 67.
