Biography of Joe Darling, outstanding Australian cricketer who captained the Australian Test Team 21 times during the 1890s and 1900s. He was also a farmer and politician in Tasmania who was highly successful and popular in the farming, Hobart and rural communities. He belonged to the Darling family which played significant roles in the agricultural and manufacturing industries of Australia for over a century. The Darling family is also well known for its philanthropy which began in the 19th century and continues today. The book is mainly about Joe Darling's cricketing career at Test, state and local club levels, yet also covers his farming and political activities. Appendixes in the book include extensive family trees along with brief biographies of prominent members of the Darling family going back to the mid-19th century.
