"This map was copy'd from one in the Kingdom of Korea's Palace, by a Chinese Lord, sent on an Embassy to that Monarch by the Emperor of China in 1710 ... The latitude of King-ki-tau, the capital, was observed by the Chinese mathematicians : and the divisions, with the names of the provinces, are marked according to Mr. D'Anville's map of Tartary ..."

"This plate is inscrib'd to John David Barbut Esqr. Secretary to ye. post Master General".
