Summary

This is a 3 volume 19th century edition of writings by Yi Tok-hyong (1561-1613). Yi was a major writer about the invasions of Korea during the 1590s by the Japanese leader Toyotomi Hideyoshi (1536-1598), as he sought to attack China via the Korean peninsula.

The Library's McLaren-Human collection includes two copies of this work, with differing covers but identical contents. The second copy has been annotated in English and Korean, possibly by Jessie McLaren, explaining that the "Hanum" of the title is one of the names of Yi Tok-hyong, and that he was born in 1561.
